‘They play with one mind, beauty of sound, intonation, precision and wonderful musical ideas and expression’.Geraldine Walther – Takács Quartet

Quartetto Adorno made an international name for itself by winning the Third Prize (with First not awarded), the Audience Prize and the Special Prize for the best performance of Silvia Colasanti’s contemporary piece in the 2017 edition of the International Competition ‘Premio Paolo Borciani’. In the Competition’s 30-year history, no Italian quartet had won such an important award.

In 2018, the Quartetto Adorno is the winner of the 10th Edition of the ‘V. E. Rimbotti’ International String Quartet Competition and also becomes associate artist in residence at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Brussels.

In 2019, Quartetto Adorno received a prestigious artistic award by receiving the ‘A Life in Young Music 2019’ Prize. Since 2019, they have been supported by CIDIM.

Founded in 2015, the quartet’s name is a tribute to the philosopher Theodor Wiesengrund Adorno who, at a time of musical and social decline, identified chamber music as a key to perpetuating true human relations, according to the values of respect and the yearning for perfection.

The Adorno Quartet collaborates with great artists such as P. Badura-Skoda, G. Bandini, E. Bronzi, B. Canino, A. Carbonare, M. Da Silva, F. Di Rosa, S. Gramaglia, L. Lortie, F. Meloni, P. Meyer, A. Oliva, G. Ragghianti, G. Sollima.
