folksmilch

What began over 20 years ago as the breakfast idea of three music students and a medical student has developed into a musical force on the Austrian music scene under the name “folksmilch”. After seven CDs, numerous exciting projects and over 1000 live concerts, it is now time to celebrate this anniversary in style and present a “Best of folksmilch” program. From its origins as a Styrian folk music group, to tango, world music, jazz and Schlager, to cabaret cover versions of hits from classical music and Austropop, folksmilch will pull out all the stops from the last 20 years. On this evening, the trio will once again play in its original line-up with clarinet and will be supported by the exceptional clarinettist Milos Milojevic. folksmilch brilliantly manages the often difficult balancing act between the highest level of entertainment and musical sophistication. The ensemble’s music is an expression of immense joy in playing, combined with extraordinary musical skills. folksmilch makes music that breathes and spreads atmosphere, makes you listen intensely and celebrate with them. “What sets folksmilch apart from many other tightrope walkers and crossover bands is the independent sound that the group has shaped and that characterizes each number unmistakably. The high technical level of the musicians contributes to the fact that folksmilch never sounds banal, even in comic passages in which musical cabaret takes center stage.” Michael Stadler (Salzburger Nachrichten)
